Spring 2011 Fashion Trend: Trench dress

The mash-up of two pretty Hall of Fame trends—trench coats and sheath dresses—will be your favorite new Monday-through-Friday wardrobe item when spring arrives.

Spring 2011 Fashion Trend: Sheer layer

The gauzy stuff was all over the Fashion Week runways. Our advice for wearing this trend in real life? Steer clear of the X-rated looks that leave nothing to the imagination. Wear a totally solid top over something sheer so you’ve got a sexy, filmy layer peeking out underneath.

Spring 2011 Fashion Trend: Neutrals and nudes

Sand, buff, beige—call it whatever you want, but we’ve seen boatloads of clothes in barely there pales on the spring runways. If you think wearing neutral shades head to toe will wash you out (or make you look nekkid), wear another color up top like always-chic black or a flattering red.

Spring 2011 Fashion Trend: Citrus colors

As we asked during New York Fashion Week, orange ya glad vibrant citrus hues are big for spring! We’re especially psyched because the hot new color makes updating last summer’s cobalt and aquamarine clothes a total cinch.

Spring 2011 Fashion Trend: Comfy clothes

So long, crop tops! Arrivederci, can’t-sit-down short shorts! Michael Kors told us, “It’s time to get rid of all those painful heels and too-tight dresses.” Come spring, stores will be chock-full of looser, easy-breezier shapes like long, billowy blouses and swingy dresses.

Spring 2011 Fashion Trend: ’60s coats

Win major cuteness points in the tricky First Impressions round by wearing a hip A-line-shape coat in a bright, cheeky color.

Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta doesn't need trends. He has his faithful brigade of well-shod women who appreciate the clear care and attention he gives his reliably ladylike collection. His mission, always, is to celebrate femininity.

Oscar de la Renta

He showed myriad printed day dresses with fitted waists and full skirts. They were ruffled, laced, or printed with a painterly grid.

Oscar de la Renta

Even his separates were marked with a certain refinement and gentility...a peachy-nude twinset topping a cream floral-cutout skirt that skimmed but didn't cling.

Calvin Klein

In a season dominated by white, it seemed fitting to close out the week with Francisco Costa's Calvin Klein. That whole cliché about saving the best for last certainly holds true in the case of this positively chic lineup that pretty much defines the new minimal. His whites, which he called anything but "white," came in an arresting parade of boxy suits and louche dresses.

Calvin Klein

As in low slit pockets on Calvin Klein evening offerings. These were clothes for women who buy into a smart kind of sexiness.

Ralph Lauren

He knew, though, to pull back the reins and inject a little Eastern cool in simple silhouettes with delicate lace and beaded details. Elsewhere it was all skinny leather pants, white blouses (button-down or poet), and brown suede coats and shirt dresses.

The Return Of Minimalism—Phoebe Philo started it at Céine this year, but for 2011 it's all the other silky, simple separates, neutral tones, white-washed palettes, and future-friendly utilitarian details like paramilitary straps that have positioned this trend as a Big One for 2011.

Wearing A Leather Jacket: The Look
GQ Magazine recently highlighted one of the hottest trends of the season to come — leather jackets. Although they can be expensive, the right fit and style can still make the leather jacket a fashion statement for years to come.

Jean Paul Gaultier set his show in a steamy hammam, with bare-chested models for a backdrop. We were in Marrakech, with Yves Saint Laurent and Betty Catroux look-alikes parading down the runway in a sheer djellaba and a black version of YSL’s famous lace-up safari tunic, respectively.

Scene Hairstyles: Weird and Scenic

Men’s Collection Louis Vuitton for Spring/Summer 2011
Louis Vuitton has gone on a head trip for Spring 2011. “It’s a rhaspody of three virtual scenarios for a digital bohemian, a man who travels the world from behind his computer screen” says Louis Vuitton Men’s Studio Director Paul Helbers under the artistic direction of Marc Jacobs.

Both lightweight and functional, the bags inspired by active sport are the perfect match with the clothes. Featuring ingenuous details such as numerous straps and handles, zips and convenient pockets, the super light nylon styles showcase the iconic Damier check printed either in black, electric blue and amazonian green. Totally foldable and packable within their inside pocket, refinement lies in the teinted calf and sophisticated suede trimmings. Washed olive or Khaki denim tote styles, printed with either LV monogram large scale or “Louis Vuitton Articles de Voyages” archive signature bring a military feel to the collection.
